For those with an interest in the history of the County, The “Winding Engine” at Pool, just along the road, was the first Cornish engine to be scheduled for preservation, and Richard Trevithick, the inventor of the steam locomotive lived nearby.   The last remaining tin-mine, South Crofty, is only a little further away.   Lyndhurst was originally built for one of the local Mine Captains, and the quality of the house reflects his standing within the community.
