Just a short distance away are the ancient villages of Gerrans and
Portscatho. Archaeological discoveries prove that there have been
settlements here since the Bronze Age, nearly 4000 years ago.
The church
at St. Gerrans is built on what is believed to have been a Celtic
foundation dating back to the 6th century. Apart from its historical
interest the church deserves a visit for its view. That of Nare Head and
the Dodman Point, seen through the churchyard, must rate as one of the
best seascapes in Cornwall.
Good local pubs serving excellent meals
Excellent walks Locally as there are throughout the Roseland Peninsula
St Mawes - just a short drive. Situated on the river Fal is a favourite
with the sailing community. Very popular all year round. Boat trips
including a foot passenger ferry to Falmouth.
Local villages well worth a visit include:
Percuil - the sailing centre for Gerrans and Portscatho
Portloe - a picture postcard little fishing village
Veryan - famous for its round-houses
Philleigh - extremely old buildings and a good pub
St Just-in-Roseland - a beautiful area stretching down to the river
St Anthony Head and Lighthouse - excellent walks and stunning views.
Local Beaches
Carne & Pendower - the two are linked together and provide safe bathing
and excellent sand quality. Parking/toilets on the beach. |

Touring
The cottages are well placed on the Roseland Peninsula and an ideal
Touring base.
Cornwall's latest major attraction, The Eden Project is about a 40 min.
drive.
The famous Lost Gardens of Heligan about a 25 min drive.
Several other gardens and country house closeby
Not only do guests have the Roseland to explore, the whole of the
Falmouth area is within easy reach via the King Harry ferry. The Ferry
is an experience in itself, operating a crossing over the Fal since
1888.
