TREGERRICK FARM

Tregerrick is a traditional family farm using natural sustainable methods to produce quality beef from our herd of pedigree South Devon cattle.

Farming in an area of outstanding natural beauty we are determined to do whatever we can to keep the countryside green and a haven for wildlife. We are keen to promote biodiversity, sustainability and preservation of this Cornish gem.

The farmhouse is mid victorian and decorated and furnished sympathetically to reflect its age, with a few modern additions such as the new conservatory to improve client comfort.

FOOD – OUR SUPPLIERS

“Fresh and Local” are our main criteria for choosing food. We support farmers’ markets, local farm shops, and buy from neighbours or even barter services in exchange for eggs and vegetables. Yes, we do use supermarkets as well – until we can find Cornish blueberries! Bacon and sausages - From Lobbs’ Shop or Charles Harris - Tywardreath Butchers. Truro Farmers’ Market or Trudgian farm shop – Probus. From Tesco we buy Black Farmer Sausages. Eggs - Own or “Stepalong” or “Penvergate Organic”. In emergencies or when large supplies are needed we use Carters (Cornish) or rarely Stonegate catering supplies. Dairy – Rodda’s Clotted Cream. Trewithen milk. Strawberries - Boddingtons’ – Mevagissey – made into jam at Tregerrick. Marmalade – Oranges from Humphreys Farm Shop made into marmalade at Tregerrick. GARDENS & VIEWS

The basic ethos of the garden revolves around the principle that native and wild plants are the residents and cultivated species are the invading immigrants.

This seems to provide a respectable balance between wild and cultivated, tidy and random, and architectural and free. The lack of formality also increases the functionality of the spaces.

The garden is a haven for wildlife, reflecting the eco-friendly farmland surrounding it.

EDEN PROJECT

Only 30 minutes drive (less on a good day), is a living theatre of plants and people, promoting awareness of the global environment and the value of plants and their significance to everyday life.

You will come away enthused and amused. No visit is ever the same. There is always something new to see.

Summer planting is wonderful but come in winter and you can spend the morning skating on the ice-rink, enjoy a wholesome hot lunch then make a visit to the tropical rainforest in the afternoon.
