The Ship Inn, originally a fisherman's cottage, was built in the
17th century and became a public house at the turn of the last
century.
It nestles in the heart of the picturesque little fishing
village of Portloe being just 100 yards from the harbour.

The interior, as one would expect from a
building of this age is full of character and nautical
bric-a-brac. A lovely open log fire during the colder months
adds to its charm at atmosphere.
Now under the proprietorship of Mark Swannell, this excellent
village pub, with its sheltered garden provides the discerning
visitor with excellent food, beers and wines. Local fish are a
speciality and always on the menu. 'Local' here means local,
landed less than 100 yards from the kitchen. Crab, Lobster and
mussels are almost always available as 'Catch of the day'.
The location of the Ship Inn is not only just a stones throw
from the Southwest Coastal path but right in the heart of the
Roseland Peninsula. Small sandy coves and headlands abound.
The main tourist town on the Roseland is the popular sailing
destination of St Mawes. Situated in a quiet sheltered bay at
the mouth of the River Fal it offers a range of small shops,
restaurants and pubs. Boat trips are always available from the
quay including a passenger ferry to Falmouth.
