Local attractions:

The nearest beach to Skyline is Lusty Glaze, just 400 metres away, as depicted on the attached picture, it is just a short walk into the town centre with views to the Atlantic Ocean to your right.

Newquay is Cornwall's premier resort and as such, as you would expect offers numerous activities to suit all age groups and tastes.
The resort is primarily famous for its glorious beaches all of which have excellent soft sand. They vary from the sheltered 'Town Beach' the enormous sand dunes at Perranporth, and of course the world famous surfing beach at Fistral.
The town offers good shopping, good restaurants, tea rooms, pubs and a selection of night clubs.
Excellent walks can be enjoyed around local cliffs and headlands. These start from just a very short stroll from Skyline.

Also available in the town area:
  • Water World - a favourite with children
  • Zoo - this is a very good one, and very popular
  • Trenance Gardens
  • Surf schools
  • Golf
  • Blue reef aquarium
  • Bowling greens
  • Holywell Bay fun park
  • Dairyland
  • Bowles
  • Tennis courts
  • Trenance boating lake
  • Fishing/boat trips from the harbour
  • Fishing from nearby rocks for mackerel, Pollack and bass

As a guide:

St Austell/Mevagissey - Lost Gardens of Heligan, Charlestown Tall ships - 30 mins.
Truro City - excellent shopping, magnificent Victorian cathedral, boat trips down the river to Falmouth and onto the National Maritime Museum. (a really excellent day out). 30 mins.
Padstow - enjoy a speedboat ride on the river and walk around the cobbled streets, 40 mins
St Ives - 45 mins
Lands End - approx. 1hr 30 mins.
Beaches - many local beaches with a short drive, these include, Watergate, Perranporth, Hollywell, Mawgan Porth, Crantock, St Agnes.

Your hosts have excellent knowledge of the area and will be only too pleased to recommend that interesting place to visit or that good pub or restaurant for an evening meal.

Newquay Porth Beach & Island
Situated on the outskirts of Newquay, rarely gets busy.
Lifeguard patrol during the summer months.
The sand is of excellent quality and shelves very gently, even on high water.
Toilets/Parking/pub on the beach.
The views above show the beach at close to high tide, (it never covers all the sand), and also of Porth Island.
There is an excellent easy walk around the island from the beach and can be exhilarating on a rough day.
Fishing for bass/flounder from the rocks
