A Warm
Welcome to Polmena House
Our home is south-facing and situated in a beautiful and unspoilt
part of the River Fowey Valley, about a mile from the historical
stannary town of Lostwithiel, also regarded as the 'antiques
capital' of Cornwall.

Ideally located for
all the major attractions that Cornwall has to offer e.g. Eden
Project (6 miles), Heligan gardens, Boconnoc Estate, Lanhydrock
House.

A very spacious and
comfortable home with a friendly, stress free atmosphere making
it the 'perfect place' for you to relax and unwind in.

Traditional full
English breakfast, cooked on the Aga, is served in the family
dining room or something lighter if you prefer, using local
Cornish produce, where possible.

overlooking the gardens with colour TV and plenty of books and
local information.

There are two comfortably furnished ensuite bedrooms to choose from.
Both have colour TV, tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryer.
The
Balcony Room
An extra large, luxurious and spacious room which can be either a
super kingsize double or twin. Full ensuite facilities - bath and
separate shower. The room has its own lounge area and balcony with
extensive views of the River Fowey valley.
The
Paddock Room
A pretty double room with views overlooking the rear garden and
paddock and towards the town of Lostwithiel. Full ensuite with bath
and separate shower.

Booking and Cancellation Policy

We will require a cheque deposit to
guarantee a booking. Unfortunately we are unable to accept credit or
debit cards.
Guests are reminded that should they
have to cancel their booking and the room cannot be re-let, their
deposit may not be refunded; therefore, they are strongly advised to
take out holiday insurance.
Payment details: cheques accepted against a cheque card.

Usual guest arrival from 4 pm
please. Alternative times by arrangement. Do let us know if you are
delayed or if you would like us to make a reservation for you at a
local restaurant - essential during the high season.

From Liskeard direction coming into Lostwithiel on
A390
-
First LEFT at the "Lostwithiel Welcomes You" sign,
also marked with brown sign "Earl of Chatham" (if
coming from St Austell/Truro direction, turn RIGHT).

Turn LEFT at the next small crossroads (signposted
Lerryn/St Winnow).
-
Take RIGHT turn signposted Newham/Polmenna.
-
Keep left at next fork and Polmena House is 200
yards on right.

The Eden Project only 6 miles;
Lost Gardens of Heligan
and the
National Trust Lanhydrock House &
Gardens are all within
easy reach. Fowey Town & Harbour is 8 miles with its
abundance of boutiques and yachts together with the
Bodinnick Ferry and Polruan water taxis.
A twenty minute walk from the house will take you to
the ancient church of St Winnow - a tiny riverside
hamlet on the Fowey estuary.
From here, a
path leads from the Church through the National Trust's
Ethy Wood to the picturesque village of Lerryn. It is
said to have some of the loveliest river scenery in
Cornwall.
The
sandy beaches on the south coast of Lantic Bay and
Lansallos are about 20 minutes drive
There
are also two 18 hole golf courses, Lostwithiel Golf &
Country Club and Lanhydrock Golf Club closeby.
In
recent years, Lostwithiel, a charming historic town in
its own right, has become "the antiques capital of
Cornwall".
Further afield the delights of the
new
Falmouth Maritime Museum
and the
Tate Gallery
of St Ives beckon.

The
Globe Inn, Lostwithiel - near the old bridge and approx 20
minutes walk from Polmena. Good variety of dishes including
vegetarian - advisable to book.
The Royal Oak, Lostwithiel - famous for its real ales and more
recently won South West Pub of the Year award.
The Trewithen Restaurant, Fore Street, Lostwithiel
The Ship at Lerryn, a picturesque waterside village only 3 miles
away.
The Cormorant Hotel, Golant, nr Fowey - a beautiful, peaceful
spot overlooking the River Fowey.
Sam's Bistro and Restaurant, 20 Fore Street, Fowey - fresh fish
and sea food - no bookings, first come, first served - it is
advisable to arrive by 6.45 pm at the latest in summer!
