The Situation

Penhaven Touring Park is set in a valley of outstanding natural beauty between St Austell and Pentewan, only one mile from a beautiful sandy beach. This quiet, clean, family park is made up of three level, grassy paddocks, alongside the White River and King's Wood.

A warm, friendly welcome awaits you from Ian and Angela Hackwell, who personally run the site and combine a homely and peaceful atmosphere with modern camping and caravanning facilities. They deliberately do not have a bar on site, in order to preserve the peace and quiet of the area, and to encourage their visitors to sample the Cornish hospitality of the local inns and restaurants.

The village of Pentewan itself offers a pub, restaurant, tea shop, post office, and beautiful beach, in a delightful and historic setting: all within easy reach via a riverbank and woodland walk from the site (or by cycle, for the more energetic!)

FOOD:
Cornwall is renowned for its hospitality, and its pasties, ice-cream and clotted cream teas, so eating out Locally is never a problem.

A warm welcome awaits you at many of the country pubs and historic inns round about, but if you'd like a bit more variety, here are a few suggestions:

The shop on site offers a selection of everyday groceries and fresh local produce, and during high season, fast food and takeaways are available from a mobile catering van opposite.

Many people bring their own barbecues along, or buy disposable ones, and Locally produced charcoal is sold in the on-site shop.

The local area can offer a variety of pubs, cafes and restaurants to suit every taste and budget. Within walking distance of the campsite there is a restaurant and fish and chip shop in London Apprentice, and a pub, restaurant and tea shop in Pentewan.

The nearest major supermarket is about 3 miles away in St Austell, and in the opposite direction, Megavissey is the place to go for a fish and chip lunch or a cream tea.

If you get really stuck, Ian and Angela are always on hand to give some advice, or you can grab a 'Where To Eat Out' booklet from the shop.

The Swimming Pool:
The site has a heated swimming pool with sun terrace and sun loungers. It is 40x20 feet, with a maximum depth of 3ft 6in, and set in its own enclosed area. The pool is unsupervised, but for extra safety the enclosure is locked at night .

The Play Area
A fenced play area on sand and grass is available for small children, including swings, climbing frame, slide, and see-saw. There is also a recreation field for ball games.
