Port Isaac the location of BBC’s Doc Martin
series is just down the road. Famous surf spots such as Bude,
Widemouth Bay, Polzeath and Newquay are all easily reached.
Discover unspoilt villages along country lanes with their
ancient churches and local pubs. Opportunities to eat out are
many and various from traditional Cream teas and Pasties to
smart seafood restaurants.
There is stunning walk from Mealhouse to the beach at
Crackington haven. Walk across the fields which over look the
haven (photo on left) and head down over the hill into the quiet
shade of the woods, follow the stream at the bottom of the
valley into the haven where you find two beach cafes serving
light lunches and snacks made from local produce and the Coombe
Barton Inn which serves local ales over looking the sea. The
beach is sheltered from the wind by its towering cliffs and has
lifeguards in the summer months.

DIRECTIONS TO MEALHOUSE:
From the M5 take the A30 bypassing Okehampton and Launceston.
About 3 miles after Launceston turn right onto the A395
sign-posted Hallworthy and North Cornwall.
At Hallworthy take the B3262 on the right until you reach the
A39. Turn right towards Bude carry on the A39 for about 3 miles
after passing Cansford quarry on your left you reach the
junction for Boscastle and Crackington turn left here. After
about 2 miles you reach a right turn for Crackington take this
turning. After 0.5 of a mile you reach a turning on your left
for Hill & Sweets take this and follow the road. After about 1.5
miles you will find the road bends to the right at a right-angle
here take Hallagather Farm lane immediately on your left.
Mealhouse is the 3rd house on the right please park on the
gravel and enter through the garden gate.
Approaching on the A39 from the north continue past Bude and
about 12 miles south turn right at the Boscastle Crackington
Haven turning.
After about 2 miles you reach a right turn for Crackington take
this turning. After 0.5 of a mile you reach a turning on your
left for Hill & Sweets take this and follow the road. After
about 1.5 miles you will find the road bends to the right at a
right-angle here take Hallagather Farm lane immediately on your
left.
