Cream Of Cornwall Award

Crackington Haven is situated on the rugged North Coast between the popular resorts of Boscastle and Bude.

The farmstead, some two miles from Crackington Haven lies at the end of a lane leading to the sea which is just a few hundred yards away.   The coastal path runs the length of the farm, providing some of the best walking in England, as well as affording the opportunity to observe the many rare birds and wild flowers.   Rachel and Chris Crocker, whose home this is, are keen to retain the natural beauty of this coast farm and aim to do so by practising extensive farming methods.

This family home has been lovingly restored and furnished to provide excellent accommodation for guests.   The comfortable sitting-room has oak-beamed ceilings and a massive granite fireplace, with a log-burning stove for cooler evenings.   An ancient doorway leads to a cosy snug where guests can enjoy a quiet read.   An original half-spiral stone stairway leads to the bedrooms, all of which are heated, two having a bathroom/shower-room en-suite.

There are additional bedrooms in a lovely old stone barn alongside the farmhouse.   These rooms have the additional benefit of television and stunning views to the sea and Lundy Island.

Two bedrooms are on the ground floor.

On arrival guests are welcomed with a fresh pot of tea and a plate of hot buttered saffron cake.

An excellent farmhouse breakfast is served or alternatives to your choice.

Twice weekly an evening meal is available for which Lower Tresmorn has an excellent reputation and is highly recommended.  (see sample menu), Guests are invited to bring their own wine as the farm does not have a table licence.

Rachel and Chris look forward to welcoming you to their lovely medieval home at Lower Tresmorn.   It is a working farm which is part of a most rugged and beautiful stretch of the North Cornish coast owned by the National Trust, with direct access to the cliff paths just five minutes walk from the front door.

Driving down the lane through an undulating field which is all that remains of a medieval village with the sea in sight behind the farmstead, you will realise what a special place this is to relax, unwind and escape from the pressures of modern day living.

Lying within the North Cornwall Heritage Coast area the farm is ideally placed for exploring both Devon and Cornwall.   The nearest beach is the beautiful cove of Crackington Haven, just two miles by road or a breathtaking walk along the coast path from the farm.   Bude is nine miles north, with wild Bodmin Moor, beautiful in all its moods, the Norman market town of Launceston, and picturesque fishing villages of Boscastle and Port Isaac, all within easy reach.   King Arthur’s romantic, ruined cliff-top castle and Betjamen country around St. Enodoc and Padstow within a half hours drive.

Directions  

Turn off the a39, approximately 8 miles south of Bude, at Wainhouse Corner (garage and shops), sign-posted  Crackington Haven.   Drive about a mile and turn right, after a left-hand bend, sign-posted Dizzard and Millook.   Follow this little road for about a mile and take a left turning just past a bungalow, sign-posted Tresmorn.  At the end of this ‘no through road’ take the left-hand fork and drive down the lane and the farmhouse is on the right.
