Directions:
St Austell can be approached via the A30 through Okehampton/Bodmin or the A390 through Plymouth. The A30 is recommended.
Whichever route you choose you will be travelling west on the A390 towards the end of your journey.
Travelling west on the St Austell By-pass you will come to a roundabout complex with Mevagissey signposted off to your left. Turn right at this roundabout to go towards the town centre, you will go through a mini roundabout, a set of traffic lights and on reaching the next mini roundabout turn left. Follow this road taking the 3rd turning on your left, you are then in Poltair road. Lowarn can clearly be seen on your right approx. 100 yards further on.
Have a safe journey

The very comfortable bedrooms

Local attractions:
Lowarn is situated in the centre of the market town of St Austell. Just a five minute walk from the local coach/rail station.
Just a few of the popular attractions within a short drive including:
Lost Gardens of Heligan, as seen on television, just 15 minutes away.
The Eden Project, Cornwall's latest major attraction and just 10 minutes away.
St Austell town - Just a five minute walk, shopping, multi screen cinema, leisure centre with swimming baths/badminton/squash etc.
Good choice of restaurants/pubs in the surrounding countryside.
Charlestown - 5 minutes, Tall Ships and Maritime Heritage Centre.
Mevagissey - 15 minutes. A picturesque little fishing port. Fishing/boat trips including a ferry to Fowey, excellent views along the coast and the Fowey River estuary.
Beaches - numerous in the area, all are within a short drive.
Truro City - 15 minutes, Magnificent cathedral/excellent shopping. Enjoy a boat trip down the river to Falmouth, a really enjoyable day out. (for those worried about being seasick, the river is never rough, just outstanding views).

Charlestown - Home of the Tall ships
A picturesque little village with a good pub/restaurant.
Parking in the village, or if a patron, in the pub car park.
There is a small beach but it is very stony and not recommended.
Nice walk along the cliff path to Carlyon Bay
Polkerris - Between St Austell & Fowey
A sheltered little cove with soft sand that shelves very gently
A slight problem with Parking, this is about a 10 minute walk from the beach
Toilet facilities nearby
The beach has the added advantage of having a good pub. This has a seating area directly overlooking the beach, the walls of which act as a breakwater at high tide
Breakwater wall - fishing for mackerel, flounders on high water

Touring
Virtually the whole of Cornwall can be reached within an hour from Lowarn .
As a guide:
Newquay - zoo, surfing beaches - 30 minutes
Padstow - picturesque harbour, high speed boat rides, ferry to Rock with long walks along the beach. Very popular in high season.
Falmouth - 40 minutes, Maritime Museum
St.Ives - 45 minutes, Tate gallery, picturesque harbour, beautiful beaches. Very busy.
Lands End - 1 hr. 15 mins.
Penzance - 1 hour, St Michael's Mount, day trips to the Scilly Isles.

Whatever you requirement, be it somewhere nice to visit or that pleasant evening meal your host will be only too pleased to help
