There has been a house on this site for
hundreds of years; the present farmhouse was extensively
re-built in 1989. The house stands in 22 acres of its own land
on the edge of the Roseland Peninsula. the informal, sheltered
gardens of about one and a half acres are surrounded by meadows
that extend down to the woods. In fact a relaxing tranquil
setting, close to St Austell with its main attractions of the
Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

The Location
Little Downderry is situated near St
Austell and is central for the whole of Cornwall - from the
Tate Gallery at St Ives and Land's End to houses and gardens
on the Devon border - all are within about an hour's drive.
Newquay Airport and St Austell and Truro Station are all
close by.
The great gardens of Caerhays, The Lost Gardens of Heligan,
Trewithen Gardens and the Eden Project are all within 20
minutes, as is the city of Turuo with its magnificent
cathedral and shopping facilities.
Secluded beaches of the south coast are near at hand whilst
the surfing beaches of the north coast are 25 minutes away.
Fishing and sailing are available in the many ports along
the coast; you may even be able to go for a sail in a tall
ship from Charlestown.
For those who enjoy walking, the coastal path has both easy
and more strenuous sections all with spectacular views.
Bodmin Moor has many circular walks that start and finish at
the local inn.
There is a selection of inns and restaurants nearby, some of
which are within walking distance. Your hosts are local to
the area and will be only too pleased to recommend suitable
places to eat. |
