Come and enjoy the quiet countryside.

Margaret and Alan Short welcome you to holiday with us in our lovely stone built 18th century farmhouse. We have two guest rooms both with ensuite facilities, one double and one family with bunk beds, awarded 4 diamond quality guest accommodation by the English Tourism Council.

Visitors can see at first hand a working family farm with beef cattle and a small suckler herd.

The area around the farm has a special appeal through its local history and the unspoilt beauty of its natural landscape. We are trying to maintain this beauty and the environment by supporting wildlife and using local produce. We have a commitment to energy, efficiency, waste and water conservation.

Meet Rosie and Peggy our two farm dogs, Plum, Molly and Maisie the cats. After a hearty breakfast help feed the calves and chicken or get up early and collect your own egg for breakfast.

Come and enjoy the quiet countryside

Our Grandfather originally was the Blacksmith in the local Village of Whitstone and following the decline in horsepower came to farm at Langaton over 70 years ago. . The family have farmed here ever since and our daughters are the 4th generation of the Short family to live at Langaton.

The remains of the Bude Canal route runs through the farm. The Bude Canal was constructed in 1819, its purpose was primarily to carry sea sand inland from Bude to use as fertilizer on the farmland. Visitors can enjoy walks along the towpath through woodland and beside the River Tamar taking pleasure in the abundance of wildlife and flora.

There is an abundance of wildlife around the farm including rabbits, ducks, moorhens, badgers and deer. The trees are covered with lichen which is a sign of clean unpolluted air. Flag irises, marsh marigolds and primroses grow in profusion. Visit in April or May to see the bluebell woods and country lanes filled with spring flowers.

There are many local pubs and restaurants to eat in nearby Villages. Many are child friendly with picnic benches and play area and serve delicious generous evening meals. Cornish pasties and clotted cream teas can be enjoyed locally.
