WELCOME Angela Gilbert welcomes you to
Highfield House
Highfield House is convenient for Truro City: in a quiet
residential part of the town it is ideally situated for business
people. For those on holiday or having short breaks it is
central for the Eden Project and Heligan Gardens, fabulous
National Trust gardens, beaches and excellent walks. I am happy
to collect people from the railway station, and drive them to
and from the city if necessary. There is ample off road parking
for four cars.
My breakfasts use high quality ingredients, local farm produce,
fresh farm eggs, home cured bacon and sausages.
The accommodation is of
the highest standard and comprises a double and a twin
bedded room. There is a beautifully appointed bathroom for
your own use. The beds have new sprung mattresses and
emphasis is on comfort. Each room has a tray fully equipped
with tea and coffee making facilities, a hair dryer, fluffy
dressing gowns and a clock.
DIRECTIONS
Follow the A30 from Exeter ignoring all signs to Truro. After
the big roundabout with windmills (Carland Cross) carry straight
on (it is another 6 miles so just enjoy the spectacular view)
watching out for a bridge across the road, then a big garage on
the righthand side called Town and Country Motors (Nissan). The
road goes down a hill here and you need to be ready to turn
immediately LEFT (Truro 4 miles). This is a country road,
getting narrower to T junction. Turn LEFT (Truro 3 miles) onto
the B3284. Go through Allet, and Shortlanesend to the start of
Truro 30 mph signs. Garage on right then a cross roads with a
Celtic Cross Memorial on the left. Turn RIGHT here into Newmills
Lane, then after the Nursing Home turn RIGHT into Newmills
Close. Highfield House is the first house on the Right. It takes
about 6 mins or less from the A30.

Trelissick Gardens
Trelissick is a garden and estate of tranquil beauty with
panoramic views down the Carrick Roads. Famed for its tender and
exotic plants and shrubs it is a plantsman's delight. The
gardens feature walks through 500 acres of parkland and
riverside woods. The house at Trelissick is not open, but there
is an art and craft gallery, shop and plant sales, restaurants
and a fine Georgian stable block.

The River Fal and Carrick Roads make up one of the most
attractive and unspoilt estuaries in the country. The estate is
renowned for its glorious position at the head of Carrick Roads,
with panoramic views down the estuary towards Falmouth and the
sea and intriguing glimpses of boats moored in tidal creeks and
small hamlets that have changed little over the last hundred
years.
The Eden Project and Heligan Gardens
Eden - more than just a green theme park, our aim is to
reconnect people with their environments locally and globally.
We don't have all the answers, we don't want to tell others what
to think; what we do is invite people to explore their world
afresh.
Heligan comprises over 200 acres of superb working Victorian
gardens and pleasure grounds together with a magnificent complex
of walled gardens. Summerhouses, lawns, lakes and ponds, huge
productive gardens and fruithouses, and a 22-acre subtropical
jungle, are just some of the delights of this “Sleeping Beauty”.
