Welcome to the Countryman Hotel, situated just a
two minute walk from the centre of historic market town
of Camelford. Your hosts Deborah and Michael Reeve offer
you warm and friendly hospitality during your stay,
their knowledge of the local area and what to do is
extensive and they are only to happy to advise you .
There are 10 tastefully furnished and decorated
bedrooms, all with H/C, colour TV and tea/coffee making
facilities. En-suite facilities are available, as well
as single and family rooms.
Our comfortable lounge is the ideal place to sit and
relax; we serve coffee and afternoon tea, or you can
enjoy a drink from the bar before your evening meal.
Camelford offers a choice of pubs and restaurants, or
you may eat in the hotel by prior arrangement. We are
always happy to accommodate people with special dietary
requirements. Breakfast can be a choice of either
traditional or continental, or we can also provide
packed lunches, on request.
Camelford makes an excellent base from which to
explore North Cornwall. Whether you are planning your
first visit to the area, or are familiar with our
beautiful countryside and breathtaking scenery, you will
find plenty to do and see during your stay.
Although we cannot guarantee the weather, we can
assure you of a warm welcome and an opportunity to
escape from the stress and strain of everyday life.
Whether you like walking, golfing, windsurfing, fishing,
riding, surfing, bird watching, or just relaxing on the
beach, North Cornwall can offer all this and more.
The World acclaimed Eden Project which opened in
March 2001, is a pleasant drive from the Countryman and
The Lost Gardens of Heligan is also within easy reach.
Short breaks - Why not try one of our short
breaks in early or late season, long weekends, 4- 5
night stays a break to suit your requirements, and out
of season when the roads are relatively quiet access to
all parts of Cornwall is easy from the Countryman.
Guided & Self-guided Walks
These are led by an experienced guide and include
transport to the start and (more importantly!) at the
end of the walk. Either a packed or pub lunch will be
provided, depending upon location, for a small extra
charge.
Groups range in size from 2 to 20 - we tailor our
walks to suit your needs. A mixture of coastal and
moorland scenery is included, with the chance to walk
parts of the South West Coastal Footpath, the Saint's
Way and the Camel Trail all featured in different walks.
Plus the opportunity to walk across parts of Bodmin
Moor, which is one of the least known parts of the South
West.
Walks are an average of 8 miles per day, but if
anyone wishes to walk a half day transport back to the
hotel can be arranged at lunchtime. If you are booking a
7 night holiday, we incorporate a 'free' day mid week to
enable you to explore some of North Cornwall's many
other attractions.
We have a large range of maps for anyone wishing for
self-guided walking.
Cycling - Sustrans - Route 3
The Countryman is just off Route 3 on the National
Cycle Way, ideal for that stopover if you are cycling
towards Padstow or wish to experience the Arthurian
legend at Tintagel. If you are looking to explore the
picturesque villages on and around Bodmin Moor why not
use as a base, we have a secure facility for you cycles
and a drying room if required. We would be pleased to
offer you our competitive short break Tariff for stays
over two nights. |
