beaches, local cliffs and headlands. These are all within easy
walking distance from Chapam.
Porth is a wide sandy beach and the closest beach to Chapam, it is suitable for young and old, with café, shops and toilet facilities. Life guards operate during May to September. A short walk to Porth island will offer breathtaking views towards Watergate Bay and beyond to Trevose headland and lighthouse, in the other direction across to Newquays popular beaches of Tolcarne, Great Western, Towan and the attractive and historical harbour. Scenic Porth Island is a significant historical site dating from the Iron Age and is linked to the mainland by a footbridge. Explore at low tide and you will discover caves which local folk lore says were once used by smugglers and wreckers. On calm days look carefully and you may be lucky enough to see dolphins playing in the famous surf. When the sea produces spectacular Atlantic waves the sight of spray shooting through Cathedral caves blow hole is awe-inspiring. The coastal footpath, easily reached from the luxury apartment, will allow the explorer in you to experience this area of outstanding natural beauty.
Touring: Cornwall is
only a small county and most places can be reached with an hour.
Your hosts have excellent knowledge of the area and will be only too pleased to recommend that interesting place to visit or that good pub or restaurant for an evening meal.
