'Lizard Lighthouse,
the southern most point in England'
Local
attractions:
|
Good pubs, restaurants, tea rooms, gift shops and essential supplies in the village.
The Lizard is famous for its beautiful coastal scenery. It is an easy walk to Kynance Cove and the coastal footpath. Enjoy breathtaking views from 200' cliffs at the ever-changing mood of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Lizard Lighthouse, with its commanding position above the cliffs, is particularly interesting to visit. There has been a light to guide mariners since 1619, and it continues to burn today, still safeguarding seafarers around this treacherous headland.
The village is the home of the serpentine industry. You can watch local craftsmen turning the stone, which is unique to The Lizard, and perhaps buy a souvenir to remind you of your visit.
The church of St Winwalloe, at Church Cove dates from AD 600, beautiful and peaceful, it is well worth taking time to spend a few moments there.
