THE WELCOME Last but not least, we
genuinely enjoy visitors and it shows, everyone that comes here
attests to the accuracy of our website name, a very warm
welcome.
We are open all year round and offer 2 large bedrooms, one
double en-suite, the second a twin-bed with adjacent private
bathroom.
The house is within the area known as Antony Estate which
contains the magnificent Antony House Stately Home, in National
Trust Ownership, well worth visiting for not only the house but
also, the beautiful gardens. A very pleasant walk directly from
Bulland House to Antony House takes 20 minutes or so.
Your hosts, Elke and Clive Owen have many years experience
serving the public (most notably jointly running a 30 bed
Residential Course Centre on the Western edge of The Brecon
Beacons).
Cornwall can be very busy in the Summer, and the area
immediately around Bulland is justly called Cornwall's un-spoilt
'forgotten corner' as, although popular with many visitors, it
never feels too crowded, whatever time of year you visit.
English and German spoken!
No-smoking and no pets please.

Oustanding Natural Beauty. It is set on the Rame Peninsular,
with spectacular coastal views. numerous beaches, healthy walks,
character fishing villages, Historic places and Houses to visit
and a wide variety of eating available.
Despite its nickname, this area this area is in no way remote,
with Plymouth 5 miles west and more popular holiday towns like
Looe and Polpero, a few miles further east. Of course, many
people visit this area on their way to The Eden Project, about
less than 1 hour from Bulland House.

WHAT TO DO AND WHERE TO GO ON AND AROUND THE RAME PENINSULA
Set within South East Cornwall the Rame peninsula stretches from
St Germans to Torpoint to Rame Head to Downderry/Seaton. It is
called " Cornwall 's Forgotten Corner" and there is a book of
the same name describing it. More precisely it is undiscovered
rather than forgotten. Most visitors to Cornwall go over the
Tamar Bridge and drive straight past on the A38 or go via Looe.
Torpoint
Torpoint is the main town, not overly aesthetic but OK
for functional needs like grocery shopping, banks, and for
entering and leaving Cornwall . Beyond Torpoint, the rest of the
peninsula is a very special place.
The nearest beaches to Bulland House are at Whitsand Bay,
with numerous small parking areas along the cliff and paths down
to several beaches, totalling 4 miles, a hit with surfers. The
road along to top of the cliff to Rame Head affords fine views,
but is fairly narrow in places. The planned sinking of HMS
Scylla in 2004, with accompanying explosions, received worldwide
TV coverage. The completely submerged wreck, ½ mile out to sea
is now a major attraction for divers. At the western end of the
bay is Trgantle Fort, with a military firing range close by
(avoid times when the red flag is flying and you will be fine).
Below the Fort is a lovely sandy beach that gets cleaned by the
tide very thoroughly. nearby Sharrow Cliff beach is definitely
one to visit.
The beaches at Kingsand and Cawsand are very popular with
families, gently sloping, busy yet rarely crowded.
The beach at Downderry is conveniently placed beneath the pub.
Seaton is the nearest beach you can walk straight onto from the
car and therefore can get busier.

sea. Much work has been done on improvements and there is a
feeling of real commitment from the Pro and his staff.

Walking
As well as country lanes, woods, and country parks and gardens,
the Cornwall Coastal Path stretches all round the peninsula with
spectacular views particularly in the one-hour walk from Mount
Edgcumbe to Kingsand and then a further hour's walk to reach
Rame Head. You can also simply enjoy exploring the ancient and
narrow streets of Kingsand and Cawsand. There is a bus service,
of sorts, which links the villages, to help you get back from a
long walk more quickly. Check the timetables.
