The very popular town of Fowey at the mouth of the River Fowey,
offers good pubs/restaurants/walks/boat trips etc. including a ferry to Mevagissey. Well worth a trip along the coastline taking in all
the local beaches and headlands.
The nearest major town is St Austell, good shops, multi screen cinema/swimming baths
Good beaches, pictures of all the major beaches in the St Austell Bay area can be seen on the St Austell front page link. The
beach nearest to Brambles is Par, just a few minutes away, it shelves very gently and
is safe for children, very good sand quality.
A whole range of pubs/restaurants for that quiet evening meal, your hosts are local to the area and will be delighted to recommend suitable places.
Stunning walks along the cliffs
Touring
Most places in Cornwall can be reached from Brambles within an hour's drive.
The
beaches and coves along the south coast are ideal for sailing,
canoeing, water skiing and skin-diving and equally suitable for
families with children with miles of golden sand and very safe for
swimming. For surfers the North coast has superb beaches and is
only 25 minutes away. And for the conservationist and walker this
area of Cornwall is a perfect base.
The
famous old port of Charlestown is home to a fleet of square rigged
schooners (on which you can go for a sail), and the award winning
Ship Wreck and Heritage Centre. Here you can also purchase
delicious smoked salmon, prawns, oysters, and a host of unusual sea fare
from the superb smoked fish factory in the centre of the
town.
