The village of Garvao is reached by a 10 minute walk, or a
few minutes drive. It is a low lying, sleepy village and yet
has many things to offer;
grocery shops, Post Office, Chemist, Cafes and more. The
local people are all very friendly and have retained their
local traditions with many festas
and rural activities throughout the year.
The barragem de Monte da Rocha is a 5 minute drive away, a
huge lake stacked with fish and also a cafe serving
unbeatable 'frango' (barbequed chicken).
The barragem de Santa Clara is only 25/30 kms away and is
surrounded by natural beauty.
Both locations are ideal for fishing, swimming, canoeing,
walking or just relaxing.
The beach of Vila Nova de Milfontes is 44 kms away where the
clean waters of the River Mira opens into a magnificent
estuary and meets the sea.
It is a popular resort in August but is still low-key and
unassuming.

The town of Ourique and surrounding areas are rich in
history and archaeological wealth.
The Serra de Monchique is approximately 58 kms away, its
peaks form a natural barrier between the Algarve and the
undulating plains of the Alentijo ,
