Local attractions:
Charlestown has an excellent pub and restaurants situated directly on the quay.
This together with the Shipwreck, Rescue and Heritage Centre makes Charlestown the perfect place to explore.
St.Austell is close by with its shops, swimming pool, cinema, tennis courts, fitness centre, ten pin bowling, golf course and other amenities.
There are safe sandy beaches at Carlyon Bay, Porthpean and Pentewan with exhilarating coastal walks.
Within a short drive there are many famous gardens - Lost Gardens of Heligan, Caerhayes, Trewithen to name but a few.  There are picturesque fishing ports of Mevagissey and Fowey where boat and fishing trips can be enjoyed.
A Touring Base
Charlestown is within easy reach of both coasts, being a 30 minute drive from both Falmouth and Newquay.
Bodmin Moor is approximately 6 miles distant, its rivers and lakes and unique landscape are yet another adventure.

Cornwall All Year
A perception is that the county closes when summer is gone - nothing could be further from the truth.  The mild climate of Cornwall ensures good walking days and delightful flora and fauna most of the year, while the winter and spring seascapes are dramatic. The annual Gardens Festival at the end of March to the end of May is outstanding. Many attractions stay open.
"Church crawling" opportunities (John Betjeman's favorite pastime) are always there. The winter/spring seascapes are dramatic, whilst on the sunny days beaches are buzzing with children exploring, surfers conquering the waves, and walkers walking.
Cornwall has it all come and see for yourself.
