LOCATION

The Caerthillian Bed and Breakfast is a large, early Victorian town house situated in the heart of the picturesque village of The Lizard. She sits atop of the mainland's most southerly point which attracts visitors from all over the world. Rare flora and fauna, clean air and pure light and a stunning and unique coastline all await you.

ACCOMMODATION

We take pride in offering a genuinely friendly and welcoming approach to bed and breakfast. Guests can relax and unwind in the spacious and comfortable bedrooms. All rooms except for our single room are en-suite with either a shower or a bath and shower. Our single room has it's own private bathroom. Most rooms have a sea view and all benefit from the peace and quiet of the no-through lane where we are situated. The rooms have digital televisions, free wifi and generous complimentary refreshments. We use high quality beds, linen and towels throughout.
The dining room includes separate tables and is the place to be for a freshly prepared hearty full cooked breakfast, some muesli with fresh fruit and yoghurt..... or both if you so desire. Special dietary requirements are gladly catered for with prior arrangement.
We are a children and dog friendly establishment and offer a laundry service, kit and boot drying facilities, luggage transfer and also packed lunches for those who wish to head off and explore the downs and coves. There is off street parking for your car too.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

The Lizard is known worldwide for it's breath taking and unique coastal scenery. Enjoy views across the Falmouth Bay on the east side of the peninsula and from 200' high cliff tops on the west side across the Mount's Bay towards Penzance and Land's End. The ever changing mood of the Atlantic Ocean is a marvel in itself.
The village is home to the Serpentine industry. Watch as local craftsmen turn by lathe this unique Lizard stone. Using centuries old methods they produce a wide variety of items from replica lighthouses, bowls, vases and paperweights to jewellery. Of course, afterwards there is the opportunity to take home a rare and stunning, one of a kind souvenir of your visit to The Lizard.
The Lizard Lighthouse and Heritage Centre, with it's commanding position on the cliffs above Lizard Point makes for a very interesting visit. There has been a light here to guide mariners since 1619 and it continues to burn today, still safeguarding seafarers as they navigate around this treacherous headland. Directly south is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world.
Step back in time with a stroll down to the beautiful, lichen covered church of St. Wynwallow dating from 600 AD. Inside you'll find many Serpentine features. This is in complete contrast as you walk a little further down towards Church Cove, to our state of the art RNLI Lizard Lifeboat Station nestled deep down at Kilcobben Cove.
A short walk on the coast path past Caerthillian Cove brings you to Kynance Cove. Highly regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches anywhere in the world, it has been popular with visitors since early Victorian times.
There is a good choice of pubs, cafes and other eateries as well as traditional Cornish Pasties, cream teas and locally made ice cream right here in the village. Gift shops, a butcher and deli as well as a farm shop and mini market can cater for all of your needs.

DIRECTIONS

Upon entering the village by road (A3083 from Helston) you will see The Top House Inn on your right hand side. Turn right here between the pub and little gift shop and follow the road down. In just 50 yards you will see us on the right. Our postcode is TR12 7NQ and our OS grid reference is SW 703 125. Any footpath from Caerthillian Cove (west side) around Lizard Point to Church Cove (east side) will lead you from the coast path to the centre of the village. We wish you a safe and pleasant journey.
