Mevagissey Beaches:
Caerhayes beach:
Porthluney Cove:
Nestling at the foot of the Luney Valley, Caerhayes
beach is totally unspoilt and backed by an ancient
castle.
The beach is about 200 metres wide backed by small
sand dunes, it has soft sand and is safe and clean.
When the tide is out there are rock pools for
children to play in.
Parking is at the back of the beach on short grass
or hard standing, many just park on the grass and
picnic on the grass.
Also on the beach are toilets and a beach shop/cafe.
The staff are extremely friendly and sell a
multitude of things you might need or hadn't even
thought you might need.
Unusually, dogs are permitted
There is no lifeguard service
Directions:
Follow the B3273 towards St Austell from Mevagissey.
Just out of Mevagissey at the top of a steep hill
turn left onto the Gorran Haven road. At the little
hamlet of Gorran High Lanes turn right signposted
Caerhayes. Follow through Rescassa, at the next
junction turn right, this takes you down to
Caerhayes Castle and beach.
Summary:
A lovely little sandy cove where visitors tend to
return year on year.
Excellent beach, excellent parking and a very nice
cafe.
Well recommended for families.
