A small sandy cove which is considerably extended at
low tide. Rocky at high tide when the sand is
completely covered. Sand quality below the pebbles
is excellent and some of the best surfing in the
country can be had here when conditions permit.
The beach is some 2 miles from
St Agnes and
popular with families and surfers alike, one word of
warning, the tide comes in extremely quickly, be
aware of being cut off, the cliffs here are
extremely high.
The beach is owned by the
National Trust
and there is a small car park on the beach.
There are no facilities at the time of this entry
but this should be rectified by summer 2008.
Services:
Lifeguard during the summer months
Dogs: Banned Easter to October 1st.
Toilet in the car park.
Directions:
Turn left on the outskirts of St Agnes and follow
the road down to the beach. The road is quite
narrow and in the latter stages quite steep, be
prepared to reverse if necessary.
This is very much an old mining area and mining
ruins are scattered around the countryside, it is
advisable not to enter them.
