The An Mordros Hotel is a family run hotel situated at the heart of the picturesque and highly-regarded coastal village of Porthleven, with outstanding views over the bustling harbour and out to sea. The hotel is just a couple of minutes’ walk from one of the most beautiful beaches in the west country – an unspoilt stretch of sand leading to Loe Pool and the stunning woodlands of the Penrose Estate, a haven for plant and wildlife.

Porthleven itself lies at the heart of Mounts Bay, and is the perfect place from which to explore Cornwall. Shop in one of our historic market towns or visit world-famous tourist attractions such as the Eden Project or the National Maritime Museum, then watch the sunset with a relaxing drink on our patio and fall asleep to the an mordros – the sound of the surf. The romance of Cornwall and the wild, beautiful landscape make Porthleven the idyllic setting for your seaside adventure.

Further Afield
Whether you are on a family holiday or a quiet get-away, Porthleven is never far away from the perfect day out – whatever the time of year. We are a short drive from Truro, Penzance, Falmouth and St Ives, with their diverse range of shops, museums and art galleries. Helston – home to the famous Flora Day each May – can also be reached on foot, through the beautiful Penrose Estate.
If you’re exploring the coast by car, you’ll want to visit Cornwall’s remarkable open air Minack Theatre, which has performances throughout the summer, and stop off at St Michael’s Mount, Newlyn, Mousehole and Land’s End. Or take a daytrip by ferry or helicopter to the Scilly Isles.
Cornwall is famous for its gardens, so don’t miss your opportunity to visit the Eden Project or the Lost Gardens of Heligan. And for the children, the Flambards Experience is an essential day out, with the National Maritime Museum, Cornish Seal Sanctury and Geevor Tin Mine in easy reach.
Poldark Mine
Poldark Mine is only a 10 minute drive from Porthleven, this is the location where some of the scenes we filmed for the BBC TV drama.
Relaxing days
Porthleven and the Penrose Estate have recently featured in a 1930s murder mystery, Angel With Two Faces by Nicola Upson, published by Faber and Faber. Buy the book from the Hotel, and enjoy it during your stay.
