An ancient town situated
within easy access to both
Bodmin
Moor and Dartmoor.
Once the capital of Cornwall and a favourite with Sir John Betjeman
who described it as ‘The most interesting town in Cornwall’.
It is the only walled town in the county, constructed in the 12th
century around a castle which is now in ruins.
The town itself offers good shopping, restaurants and tea rooms. It
also has two 18 hole golf courses, two bowls clubs and Salmon
fishing nearby.
