Measuring
just 10 miles x 10 miles and designated an area of outstanding
natural beauty Bodmin Moor was first farmed 4000 years ago by bronze
age settlers and is one of the last unspoilt areas of the southwest.
The moor is marked with granite tors, large expanses of open
moorland, marshes, bogs and woodland. The tors are a favourite
destination for the many walkers to the area who take great delight
in climbing them.
The moor encompasses several small villages which are in general
situated between Launceston in the east, Bodmin in the west, and
Liskerd to the south.
The villages include; Camelford, Davidstow, St Clether, Altarnun,
Lewannick, St Breward, St Tudy, North Hill, Bolventor - home to
Jamaica Inn, Linkinhorne, Minions, Cardinham, St Cleer, St Neot and
St Ive.
